Most music lovers or audiophiles desire a spacious and natural sound reproduction, which is also true from a Hi-Fi perspective. This has led to a wide range of "fixed specifications," such as large cabinets, large-diameter speakers, tweeters with horn reinforcement, as well as slim cabinets, small-diameter multi-speaker arrays, dome or jet tweeter combinations, and so on. The SUPERWAX series loudspeakers are fully active devices . The independent left and right built-in amplification modules consist of the mature and highly regarded Hypex Ncore Class D modules . The SUPERWAX MINI uses the powerful Ncore FA123, further fine-tuned by the manufacturer, delivering a total power of 350 watts, with 100 watts allocated to the tweeter horn and 250 watts to the woofer. The entire enclosure begins with the unique tweeter horn, where a 1-inch tweeter is housed in a CNC-machined waveguide. The most meticulously crafted part is the solid bronze, hand-forged tweeter diffusion horn. The elliptical shape of the horn was achieved after extensive prototyping, measurement, and listening tests, ensuring consistent diffusion and high-frequency directionality. Since the amplifier module has a built-in preamplifier and automatically switches to the current input source, it's incredibly convenient! It all depends on what source you choose. The speakers were positioned approximately 2.5 meters apart. After familiarizing myself with the room's characteristics, I placed the speakers in the same positions as the other speakers and made minor adjustments later. Okay, let's start listening! The soundstage and focus are already well-balanced. With slight adjustments to the placement and a little toe-in, the most striking feature is the high-density yet comfortable and spacious sound! This was also expected, stemming from the traditional design and efficient amplifier combination described earlier.
Then, seeing this bronze, hand-forged tweeter, the album *Take Five* came to mind, followed by... various jazz tracks on repeat. Perhaps this was a listening exercise for all these familiar albums. Based on a very complete sonic framework, high energy and clear low-frequency micro-dynamics, and a high frequency with a great sense of airiness and moisture, it was almost a perfect score—the sound was truly sophisticated and enjoyable! If you wanted to pick up a glass and get a little tipsy, the main focus would still be the music in the air; everything else was just for fun.
The 15-inch woofer delivers excellent fullness, with clear and distinct midrange and treble, seamlessly integrated without interfering with each other. Pitt & Giblin excels in the naturalness of the sound; even when the cabinet is placed flat and facing forward, it already possesses realistic vocal imaging. Slight toe-in post-production refinement further enhances the soundstage's depth and dynamic range. Perhaps its most captivating feature is its uniquely smooth and spirited high frequencies!
Undoubtedly, Pitt & Giblin's speakers possess absolute power and distinctive features. The duo is a fusion of technology and aesthetics, adhering to original design and manufacturing practices for their speaker systems. They also masterfully utilize the mature Hypex Ncore amplifier module, with built-in DSP frequency response adjusting to different environments.
